With AI-generated content in the mix, the need for quality content is higher than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI-Written Content: What We Know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s no denying that Large Language Models (like ChatGPT) have seen significant breakthroughs \u2013 making AI-generated content more advanced, reliable, and accessible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a glance, this technology is life-changing for a content marketer. Why wouldn\u2019t you want to leverage a cheaper, faster way to create content?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, there are quite a few reasons. Replacing your content strategy with AI writing often isn\u2019t the time-saving or cost-cutting solution it seems to be. AI-generators like Google Bard, ChatGPT, and even some of their paid competition can\u2019t replicate well-researched, engaging human-generated content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why not? We\u2019re glad you asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Limitations of AI-Generated Content<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We understand there are some benefits to using AI tools to write content. It\u2019s low-cost, fast, and unlimited \u2013 you can create content about anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That said, <a href=\"https:\/\/contentwriters.com\/blog\/ai-content-marketing-writing-trends-use-cases-limitations\/\">AI-generated content presents issues<\/a> that outweigh those benefits and could even cost you in other ways. AI bots don\u2019t have the ability to fact-check or understand when things are out of context the way human writers and editors do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lack of Originality and Creativity&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI models are great at regurgitating existing information but struggle to offer unique perspectives or creative insights.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human writers can think critically, draw from personal experiences, and vary their tone and structure, making their content engaging and thought-provoking in a way that AI bots aren\u2019t capable of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ethical Concerns<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI-written content raises ethical concerns surrounding bias, misinformation, and manipulation. These models learn from existing data and information, so they can inadvertently perpetuate stereotypes, share false information, or amplify biases. Of course, human writers are not immune to biases. That said, they can reflect, analyze, and be conscious of those factors to aim for accuracy and fairness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEO<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The jury is still out on how AI-generated content will impact SEO long-term, but there have been several case studies of companies that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NateMatherson\/status\/1640478503555481602\">relied on AI content<\/a> and then experienced poor website performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until we have further guidance from search engines and more time to measure the long-term effects, content created by generative AI is too risky to scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">U.S. Copyright Law<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now, AI-generated content cannot be copyrighted. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.copyright.gov\/\">U.S. Copyright Office<\/a>, any work created by non-humans can\u2019t be copyrighted \u2013 including art, music, and written content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While there is a gray area for content created using both AI and human effort, there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.copyright.gov\/ai\/ai_policy_guidance.pdf\">minimum human authorship requirement<\/a>, meaning humans would need to contribute on a larger scale to make the work eligible for copyright \u2013 so much for saving humans time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, overall, do the benefits outweigh the limitations?
